Eat street food! Portland has a well deserved reputation for some of the best street food anywhere. Nong's Khao Man Gai is a must, but ask locals for recommendations or just follow your instincts and get stuck in.

Make sure you check out Ground Kontrol too, which has an amazing collection of classic arcade games and pinball machines.

I can't comment on the relevance to Content Strategy, but having been to both OSCON and DjangoCon in Portland a few times I think it's an absolutely superb city for hosting a conference.

Good facilities, a free tram service that covers the main venues and hotels, superb food, small enough to be walkable but large enough to deal with a large number of conference delegates - and it's a great city in its own right hence a desirable destination for potential attendees.

I live in London, but Portland is probably my favourite US city for attending a conference. I can't wait to get back there - in fact I liked it so much I took my wife there for our wedding anniversary.

It looks like there will be at least one Content Strategy related conference in Portland next year though - LavaCon 2012 is set to take place in October: http://lavacon.org/portland/ and http://lanyrd.com/2012/lavacon/

I had a fantastic (and not expensive) Cajun meal here last night at Montage - really fun place, very quirky.
